How to Keep a Child with Autism Safe | fi
Keeping a child with autism safe is a full time job for caregivers. They have little to no safety awareness and no fear. A parent needs to think of safety in the home, during the night, at school, on outtings, on field trips, at church, and anywhere else the child goes. My main safety tip is to think ahead. Think of what could happen and work to prevent that. It can be heartbreaking and traumatic to think of the what ifs but it is necessary. What if your child left in the middle of the night? What areas could pose the most danger for him? Think of barriers to stop the child from getting hurt or maybe leaving the yard.
